Dr. Jamshed J. Irani Award for Excellence in Education

After a long journey spanning almost a decade of hard work, Baug-E-Jamsheed School became the first school in Jamshedpur to break the 600 point barrier and win the prestigious Dr. J. J. Irani Award for Excellence in Education, during the 8th Award Function of TEEP held at XLRI Auditorium, Jamshedpur on the 25th of Feb 2013.

Baug-E-Jamsheed teachers participated in the EQUIP 2012 held at Beldih Club on the 11th of December. The EQUIP team was recognised by Dr. Narendara Jadhav for their presentation “Open House on Multiple Intelligences”

Tata Steel instituted this award in 2003 to promote excellence in schools. The award is based on the ‘Tata Steel Education Excellence Model’ (TSEEM) now known as TEEP (Tata Steel Education Excellence Programme).

The first applications were accepted in 2004 and Baug-E-Jamsheed School along with 19 other schools applied for it. In 2005, 24 schools applied. In a grand ceremony, on 6th February 2006, at the XLRI Auditorium, BEJS was given a special prize for scoring the highest points among all schools for two consecutive years.

In 2007, BEJS was recognized as the highest scorer in Category I (Schools up to Std. 4) with commendation for Strong commitment to Total Quality Management in Education.

In 2008, although not a single school scored over 600 points to get the award, in category l, (Schools up to Std.IV), BEJS was the highest scorer and was recognized for Significant Achievement in Excellence in Education. Mr.B.Muthuraman, M.D., Tata Steel presented the award to the Principal, Mrs.Shireen N.Dotivala.

In 2009, Mr. Nerurkar, MD, Tata Steel, awarded the trophy for Commendation for Commitment to Excellence in Education. The Principal received the Trophy on behalf of Baug-E-Jamsheed School.

For 2010, we were fortunate that Dr. A.P.J.Kalam graced the Award function in February 2011. He gave the trophy for Active Promotion of Excellence in Education to the Principal.

For 2011, Professor Y. S. Rajan was the Chief Guest and he awarded BEJS for Active Promotion of Excellence in Education.

2012- Won the AWARD!

At Baug-E-Jamsheed School the journey towards Excellence is a way of life and a stepping stone to success.

Excellence in Education Awards: In May 2012 at the Excellence Ceremony in the XLRI auditorium, Dr. Y. S. Rajan presented the award to Baug-e-Jamsheed. The EQUIP team was recognised by Mr. Sanjiv Paul for their presentation "Knowledge-sharing with teachers of other schools".

BEJS was also adjudged a winner for their Best Practice- “Professional Portfolios of Teachers resulting in Continuous Improvement in Teaching Methods” and the EQUIP (Education Quality Improvement Project) “Multiple Intelligences Woven into Activity Based Learning”.

Assessor Recognition : Mr. Sanjeev Paul,Vice President TEEP and Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel. Mr. A.M. Mishra, Vice President Shared Services Tata Steel and Mr. A.B. Lall, Plant Head, Tata Motors felicitated the assessors at a Recognition Function at Golmuri Club on 30th March 2013. Mrs. Navita Prasad, Mrs. Maitrayee Chakraborty, and Mrs. Shireen Dotivala were recognised along with their teams.

Safety Award : At a function in TATA STEEL to Felicitate Safety and Health Champions held in November 2011, Baug- E- Jamsheed received an award for the Best School in Safety Initiatives.

It is with pleasure that we announce that BaugeJamsheed school has been conferred with the Torchbearers Award from the India Didactics Association for the category, best practices in developmentally appropriate assessment practices in early childhood education.

The award was received by Ms. Archana Gupta Coordinator, at a glittering function during the international Exhibition and Conference for education and Training Resources at Bengaluru on 24th September .

The school was also declared one of the six finalists for the category amongst more than 100 applicants from all over India.

ACCOLADES AND AWARDS

  BEJS has received “The School That Cares” Award from the Giant’s Group.

  BEJS along with five other schools has been selected by the British Council to work with four schools of Bristol, U.K. in the UKIERI (UK-India Education and Research Initiative) programme.

  Mrs. S. N. Dotivala was nominated “Teacher of the Year” by the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur (main) during the Teacher’s Day week at a ceremony held at Beldih Club, Jamshedpur. She addressed the Rotarians present showing a PowerPoint presentation of her trip to Bristol. The presentation was appreciated by one and all.
